Carl H. Fortna, DVM

Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Fortna graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1991 and earned his veterinary degree from Cornell University in 1995. After graduation, he practiced in Berks County until joining Highland in 2001. He currently resides in Berks County with his wife Suzanne, raising four children and enjoying the company of their Golden Retriever “Remy”. Outside of work he enjoys Penn State football, gardening, reading, and Shoofly pie. Dr. Fortna is a second generation veterinarian following in his father Dr. David H. Fortna, Sr.’s footsteps.

Brandon Mattson, DVM

Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Mattson was born and raised in a small town in Wisconsin.  He obtained his bachelor's degree in biology from Brigham Young University.  He earned his Masters in Preventive Medicine concurrently with his veterinary degree from Iowa State University.  After his schooling at Iowa State, he completed a small animal internship at the University of Illinois.  Prior to joining Highland Animal Hospital in 2012 he was employed in Northeast Pennsylvania at an emergency and referral hospital.  At home, Dr. Mattson, his wife, and four children take care of their Cairn Terrier, Mimbi and their two rats Zinnia and Dahlia. Outside of work he enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, and woodworking. You might not have guessed but Dr. Mattson is a true Cheesehead from Wisconsin.

Paul Adolf, VMD

Veterinarian

Dr. Adolf attended the University of Rhode Island and Penn State University where he earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry. His first career he worked as a clinical chemist from 1971-1990. He earned his veterinary degree from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. Dr. Adolf joined Highland in 2003 and he enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice. Dr. Adolf and his wife Anne have two grown daughters and live in Easton with their cats Howie and Ozzie and dog Lucy. Dr. Adolf can often be found golfing, surf fishing, or enjoying classic cars when he's not working at Highland. Dr. Adolf had the serendipitous opportunity to meed actors Jeff Goldblum and George C. Scott while attending a small theatre show in NYC.

Marie Weber, VMD

Veterinarian

Dr. Weber completed her undergraduate studies from Penn State University and her graduate studies from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She has practiced veterinary medicine in the Lehigh Valley for over thirty years; joining Highland in 2009. She lives locally with her dog Kona, a Rhodesian Ridgeback. She is a Master Gardener and her interests include teaching the 4-H veterinary science club,  birding, taking art classes, and football. Dr. Weber loves anything Penn State!

Kelly Sheasley, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Sheasley attended the University of Delaware and attended Auburn University for her veterinary studies. She previously worked  in Maryland in a large animal practice. She joined Highland in 2017. She enjoys gardening, walking, hiking, and photography. She has two cats, Thunder and Lightening. Dr. Sheasley enjoys teaching various youth sports.

Savannah Gibson, VMD

Veterinarian

Dr. Gibson attended Delaware Valley College where she earned her B.S. in Biology. She completed her graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. She returned to her home town and joined Highland Animal Hospital immediately after graduate school. She worked at another veterinary hospital as kennel staff, reception, and a technician while attending school. Dr. Gibson's hobbies include horseback riding, kayaking, yoga, and she enjoys trying new foods and restaurants. She has one horse, a quarter horse named Levi; two dogs Penny and Maribel; and, one feisty calico cat named Chloe. Dr. Gibson hopes to eventually visit all of the National Parks in the USA.

Margaret Johnson, MS DVM

Traveling Veterinary Surgeon

Dr. Johnson attended Cornell University for both her undergraduate and graduate studies in veterinary medicine. She works as a traveling board certified veterinary surgeon offering specialty procedures to clients at local hospitals. She's been working with Highland since 1995. She enjoys wine, horseback riding, and snorkeling. She has three dogs, two Beagles and one Whippet, and two Islandic horses.
